Say Hello to Travel On Inspiration 2.0

It may have taken me the better part of a month, but I am now very excited to announce that the redesign of my blog is complete, and I couldn’t be happier with it.

The reason why it took me so long is not only because of the Christmas and New Year holidays but also because I had let the site, the server and some plugins fall way behind in terms updates. This meant that finally updating the site caused some major issues and to cut a long story short I ended up starting from scratch with a brand new install.

Although, thinking about it now, this may have ended up to be a blessing in disguise as it allowed me a clean slate on which to build, without any old plugins or pieces of code hiding away in background causing the site to run slow.

The picture below shows how the old site used to look and personally I think this new one is a massive improvement.

Old Site

The eagle-eyed among you may have also spotted that I have a new logo, I hope you like it.

The homepage now has links to each of the different sections of the site such as Destinations, My Travels, Inspiration and Travel Advice. Making it easier to find what you’re searching for and also some content that is usually lost to the back of the blog after a long time.

As well as redesigning the site I have also reworked my About Me page (come and say hello) and also added some new pages such as New Here? and my Press Page. I also have some other great features that I hope to be implementing soon, so be sure to follow me on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.

What do you think of the redesign, have a look around and please let me know if you come across any issues or errors in the comments below and I will try to fix them as soon as possible.

Thanks Bram. I had the general idea for it and described it to the designer who made it up for me. I used a designer off Fiverr. Fiverr is great for little design jobs like that, just find one with a good rating and describe what you would like.

      Have you used Fiverr before?

Fiverr is great. Anything you need for 5 dollars.

I don’t have my own version of Photoshop so any designs I need, I usually go through there.

Thanks Kevin, your blogs awesome too. I love the cartoons you draw, I can’t draw for shit.

I have a lot more time to dedicate to my site now, so hopefully I will be able to keep this one looking good and up to date.

      Hi Angela.

I’m so glad you like the redesign, it took a little longer than expected. Have you noticed any bugs or anything I still need to sort out?

I liked your 2013 Round up. You had some amazing adventures this past year, Iceland looked incredible.

Congratulations on the redesign Jason. I can certainly sympathise with you on all those nasty plugins and updates. They consume an endless amount of my time.

I like your new logo and site design and the carousel at the top as well. I was a little intrigued to see an advert in your logo banner rather than just below it. I do know though that ads at / near the top of the page work well.

I wish you well with this new design and look forward to seeing it running smoothly for you.

Happy New Year as well as Happy New Design 🙂

      Thanks The Guy.

The header ads have worked well for me in the past but I will monitor how it works out and can always change it at a later date. Thanks for your feedback.

Happy New Year to you too.
