You Decide my European City Summer Destination

I know I have mentioned this a few times now but this year I am mainly concentrating on finishing my Masters degree and saving up for my full RTW travels next year. However I still hope to go on a couple of shorter breaks this year and with so many cheap flights available throughout Europe, there a wealth of possible destinations to choose from.

I have managed to whittle down the whole of Europe to 5 amazing cities I would love to visit but I really cannot choose between them. This is where you come in. I need your help to make the final decision as to which city I travel to next. Before we get to the voting let’s take a look at the cities in contention.

1. Rome, Italy

Rome, Italy

2. Paris, France

Paris, France

3. Prague, Czech Republic

Prague, Czech Republic

4. Amsterdam, The Netherlands

Amsterdam, The Netherlands

5. Budapest, Hungary

Budapest, Hungary

In the following weeks I will be writing more detailed articles on each of the cities, discussing what there is to see and do in each place, the quickest and cheapest way to get there, and the choice of accommodation available.

You can vote for the destination you would most like me to visit using the poll below. Feel free to vote for as many different cities you would like (if you’re as indecisive as me) and as often as you would like. I will be putting this poll onto the sidebar too, so you can easily cast your vote whenever you come back to visit my site. Voting will close a couple of weeks after the last detailed city article has been posted and I will let you know a more definitive date then.

If you have any recommendations as to what I should check out or have had any positive or negative experiences in one of the cities let me know in the comments below.

There’s nothing like Rome. . .but in the summer, it’s hot, sometimes muggy, dusty, and full of tourists waiting in line for all the hot spots. Still Rome, though.

I’d go for Prague or Budapest. I feel like the other cities are pretty well-known in pop culture (I’m American), so these two still seem “foreign” to me.

I’ve been to 4 of the 5 and Budapest was by far my favorite – I didn’t really give Amsterdam much of a chance though as I basically spent 3 days in the coffee shops and didn’t see much else.

I wasn’t a fan of Prague, it was really really beautiful but there were so many tourists.

I don’t know about Rome but I think Prague has it’s tourists concentrated to a greater degree so it seems like there are more. Paris has so many sights and they’re dotted all over the city that it didn’t feel as touristy.
