How a Little Patience Can Add a Lot to Your Travel Funds

So I bet your thinking ‘Patience’, what the hell has that got to do with saving for my travels. Well let me explain it to you with an example. I am a huge gamer, whether it’s the latest FIFA football or Call of Duty games, or even the latest console releases (I once waited outside the local game store in the rain until midnight to get my hands on one of the first PSP’s) I usually get what I want on release day. Then sometimes, as little as 2 weeks later, I may be browsing online and notice that a game I paid £40 for is now reduced to £20. I could have saved myself £20 and added that to my travel funds.

The same concept can be used in a number of different situations, for example instead of seeing that new blockbuster film at the cinema wait a couple of months and rent a DVD. This could save you as much as £30 if you usually buy the extremely expensive popcorn and drinks like I do.

When yet another version of the Iphone is released, instead of upgrading straight away if you have some patience and wait a couple of months then you are more likely to receive a much better deal on the exact same phone and end up saving yourself a lot of money in the long run.

For the ladies out there who love shopping for new clothes maybe you could also try and have some patience and wait until that little black dress is now on offer or until the shop is having a sale, saving you a considerable amount of money that can be added to your travel fund. The possibilities are almost endless.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that just because you may be in the process of saving towards your travels it doesn’t mean that your current lifestyle should suffer as a consequence. By applying a little patience you can still have all the new gadgets, games and clothes you really want whilst saving a bucket load of extra cash.

If you have any more great examples of how a little patience can add to your travel savings I would love to hear them in the comments below.

Your comments are very true and combine prudence with patience. I believe in being cautious with money and think my life is just as rich as others.

If the big trip is your real goal then little sacrifices of time are well worth it.
